Lucas Terrier

Breed History:
The Lucas Terrier is a rare small terrier breed developed in the United Kingdom during the 1940s by Sir Jocelyn Lucas, a well-known breeder of Sealyham Terrier dogs. Dissatisfied with the increasingly heavy show-type Sealyhams, Lucas aimed to create a smaller, more athletic, and practical working terrier.
To achieve this, he crossed Sealyham Terriers with small working terriers, particularly the Norfolk Terrier. The result was a compact, energetic, and friendly terrier suited both for vermin control and companionship.
Although not officially recognised by many major kennel clubs, the Lucas Terrier has maintained a loyal following among enthusiasts who value its temperament, working ability, and manageable size.
