Phu Quoc Ridgeback

Breed History:
The Phu Quoc Ridgeback is a rare and ancient hunting breed originating from Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. It is one of only a few dog breeds in the world that naturally possesses a ridge of hair growing in the opposite direction along its back, similar to the Rhodesian Ridgeback and Thai Ridgeback.
Traditionally, the breed was used for hunting wild boar, deer, and other game in dense forests while also serving as a guard dog and family protector. Its isolation on Phu Quoc Island helped preserve many of its primitive traits, including exceptional agility, intelligence, and independence.
The breed is highly prized in Vietnam and remains relatively rare outside its homeland.
