Lagotto Romagnolo

Breed History:
The Lagotto Romagnolo is an ancient Italian working breed originating in the Romagna region of Italy. Originally developed as a water retriever, the breed was used by hunters to retrieve waterfowl from the marshlands and wetlands of northeastern Italy.
As marshes were gradually drained, the Lagotto Romagnolo transitioned from water retrieval to truffle hunting. Its exceptional sense of smell, intelligence, and trainability made it the ideal dog for locating valuable underground truffles. Today, it is regarded as the world's premier truffle-hunting breed.
In addition to its working abilities, the Lagotto Romagnolo has become a popular family companion due to its affectionate nature and low-shedding coat.
